I've been on a bit of a hiatus the last three weeks, with a
mini-vacation, seminar and then the end of school/dance recitals/Little
League.
For all my new subscribers who may not be aware, I kept a log of what I
ate while traveling just to prove that you can have fun, eat out all

I was reading a magazine today and came across an article derived from
a book by Dr. Don Colbert called "
The Seven Pillars of Health". The
gist of the article?
Not getting enough sleep is not only unhealthy, but it can actually
make you fatter! If you want to lose weight and feel great
one of
the first things you need to do is get enough rest at night.

Sleep leads to losing weight
I recently started trying to get 8 hours of sleep a night out of
necessity, because I found I absolutely couldn't function on the 5 or 6
I was routinely getting. I almost drove off the road a couple
months ago--with my kids in the car.
I figured whatever wasn't done by 10 p.m. was going to stay undone by
the next day.
So far, it's made a big difference in my life. Now I know why.

Did you try that hot water with lemon experiment I mentioned in my last
newsletter?
I used it--even on vacation--and found my "systems" function much more
smoothly when I do so.
I wash the entire lemon before slicing it into four quarters.
I
boil water, then squeeze the juice from a quarter-lemon into the mug.
I then add the entire quarter-lemon to the water, wait a
couple
minutes, and drink it down.
I thought it would taste diluted, but instead, it's a wonderful, robust
lemony way to end the day. It's absolutely fantastic.
You could also do this in the morning, if you choose--but then you'd
have to give up your coffee. Unfortunately that's not
something
I'm prepared to do yet. :-)

I've known Leo since my first day in first grade with
the terrifying Sister Helen. We lost touch in high
school but
imagine my surprise when I found out he was living in the same dorm as
me on the first day of college! I don't know where Sister
Helen is but Leo's been busy helping people get out of debt for years.
